Dabangg Movie Review by Movie Critics
Taran Adarsh (BollywoodHungama.com) 4.5/5
On the whole, DABANGG is a full on entertainer with three aces – Salman Khan like never before, stylish action and super music. Sure to fetch an earth-shattering opening, the film will create a pandemonium at the box-office, cementing the status of Salman Khan as the darling of the masses and making the distributors laugh all the way to the bank. It has Blockbuster written all over it!
Abhishek Mande (Rediff) 3/5
Dabangg continues to belong to Salman, the last standing action hero of our times, who may not know to dance, sing or (if I may daresay) act but sure as hell knows how to pack a punch and entertain the crowd like no one else can ever dream of doing. Dabangg is not a movie for non-Salman fans. But for those who worship him it’s a film you simply cannot afford to miss.
Rajeev Masand (CNN-IBN) 2.5/5
Watch it strictly for Salman, who delivers enough bang for your buck!
Aniruddha Guha (DNA India) 4/5
Dabangg is slightly mad, and terribly entertaining.
Anupama Chopra (NDTVMovies.com) 3/5
I recommend that you see the film for the sheer pleasure of watching Salman Khan in top form.
Kaveree Bamzai (India Today) 4/5
Well edited, with songs strategically placed throughout the movie, including the rousing Munni badnaam hui, and a length that’s not too terrifying. This is one Zandu Balm of a movie.
Komal Nahta (KoiMoi.com) 4/5
Dabangg may be a routine subject but its other plus points will ensure that it proves a runaway hit from North to South and East to West. It will be loved by the masses and classes, the young and the old, the girls and the boys, the men and the women.
Gaurav Malani (IndiaTimes.com) 3/5
Try to find a novel storyline and there is none in Dabangg. Try to find Salman Khan and there is nothing else.
K.K Rai (Stardust India) 3/5
The movie belongs to Salman Khan all the way. In fact, it is he who carries the flick on his shoulders through his star power. An entertaining and paisa vasool experience for the masses
Nishtha Bhatnagar (NewsX.com) 4/5
The movie is one of the easiest watches of our times. It wastes no time in instructing and educating. It shows things as they are. Whether it is corruption, peculiar accents or Salman’s violent behavior. And it is amazing how much fun you have at his idiosyncrasies. The dialogues are to die for. They are impacting and funny, both at the same time.
Pankaj Sabnani (Glamsham.com) 2.5/5
DABANGG doesn’t hit you with a ‘bang’. Watch it only if you are an ardent Salman Khan fan. It’s his character that works, not the film
Khalid Mohamed (PassionForCinema.com) 2/5
To see or not to see, then? If you’re a Salman Khan fan, umm yes. You could do worse like wandering into the fake We are Family. Otherwise, nahin nahin kabhi nahin.
Nikhat Kazmi (The Times of India) 4/5
Dabangg is designed as a vehicle to showcase the star charisma of Salman Khan and the actor literally hits bull’s eye. He has a ball on screen and makes sure you join the party too.
Minty Tejpal (Mumbai Mirror) 4/5
Dabangg is Salman’s film. Every moment that Salman is not on screen, you feel his absence, such is his overpowering machismo. Dabangg is pure chavanni chhap entertainment, easy to ridicule but toughest to create. Well done and Eid Mubarak.
Mayank Shekhar (Hindustan Times) 3/5
It’d be a shame to watch this anywhere outside of an old, decrepit single screen theatre, in the spirit of the loud tribal tradition that Hindi movies have always been: severely light on both the brains and the wallet. Mad stuff! Really
Shubhra Gupta (Indian Express) 2.5/5
Kashyap fails to keep the pitch consistent, and the dips become more clichéd and pronounced as the film progresses. Dabangg could have been the retro dhamaka of the year; I enjoyed only some of it.
Subhash K. Jha (NowRunning.com) 2.5/5
But this is a Salman Khan vehicle all the way. He gets to be funny, wicked and belligerent… sometimes all at once.
Janhvi Patel (StarBoxOffice.com) 3/5
Dabangg is the perfect festive movie and lives up to the hype and expectations. Take your friends and family along for the complete masala movie experience.
Sukanya Venkatraghavan (Filmfare) 3/5
Dabangg rides totally on Salman Khan’s magic.Had director Abhinav Kashyap cast a less popular actor, it’s doubtful the film would have the chutzpah that Khan has lent to it.
Sonia Chopta (Sify Movies) 3/5
Dabangg is an evolved version of Wanted. The hero is not all-pervasive. He can beat up a roomful of baddies but also shed a tear over his estranged family. These nuances are appreciable, but the film lacks the pace and drama of a full-blown entertainer.
Still, better than all the other choices at the theatre currently. Don’t buy into the hype, and you’ll find it an entertaining enough single-time watch
