Raajneeti is an enthralling and assertive perspective of cold-blooded politics in a democracy. After a long time, an absolutely mind-blowing movie has been released at the Bollywood box- office. I say, you book the tickets right away before they are sold out!

Take time out for a serious and compelling celluloid experience. Don’t miss Raajneeti.

What does the film in more than slightly is, but, the sheer commercial relentlessness of its drama. There’s absolutely no relief, respite, rhythm, or ‘thehrav’, What you sense here instead then is an over-dramatic, over-written screenplay: an over-boiled egg.

This is a film designed to impress. And it does so successfully for most parts. Raajneeti is a war cry you can’t ignore.

Prakash Jha’s  Raajneeti  is a politically correct tribute to Mahabharat. Absolutely recommended!

Anupama Chopra (NDTV) 3/5

Raajneeti, writer-director Prakash Jha’s sprawling portrait of a political family, is a mixed bag. The film has moments of ferocious power and just as many flaws.

Shubhra Gupta (Indian Express) 2/5

`Raajneeti’ could have been the film of the year. It had the potential, and the actors, but it comes together only intermittently. This is not the Prakash Jha who has made some of the most politically resonant films in Hindi cinema.

If you want a rude reality check what really goes down in our large demo-crazy, then Raajneeti is recommended, especially for the politically naive.

Rajneeti, or whatever there is of it,  belongs to Ranbir Kapoor. He is excellent –  intelligent and restrained in an enterprise which is strictly average, never mind its star roster, extravagant resources and bulldozer  publicity. Suggestion: instead rent The Godfather DVD or — never thought, I’d live to say this –  Sarkar.

“Raajneeti” is thrilling and gripping for the most part, even though it does lose steam in its final act.

Rajneeti has a story to tell unlike last week’s release Kites which was all about glitz and glamour. The film is well-directed and has powerful performances. Do watch it.

Still, for the few captivating moments that the film offers, and for Ranbir Kapoor’s unbeatable screen command, Raajneeti remains an above-average watch.

3 Thoughts

  1. I watch it today……. its disappointing… Its not the Prakash jha direction i was expecting…… poor direction…. I did not like it…..

its not the actors fault …. all have done a pretty good job…..
but the story telling is not convincing or believable…..

things happen very fast….. love happens in seconds… romance in seconds… marriages in seconds…. deaths happen in even faster speed …. O that sceen was really horrible…. where ajay devgan was confused on how to give an expression to a dialoge…. where his real mother comes in front of him suddenly after 30 yrs and says …”beta tu mera beta hai…. mai teri ma ho…. ghar chal ab…. ab tu hi agala utaradhikari hoga or next leader in the party… its like one of the most stupid sccens i have ever sceen….. poor direction ,scripting ….. i am not understanding for what these critics are giving it 3 or 3.5 stars actually it should be given 1.5 stars….

  2. in rajniti shooting of mob is excellent.MOB plays himself as charactor in the movie. partially compare with the script of mahabharat is plus as well as minus point of this film. the graph of film falls with the scene of ajay devgan & his orignal mother came together.first half is intersting .audiance wants to see more intelligent political move frm ajay & manoj camp but it dosent happen. why the politisian in film taking gun & himself going for attack ? the director fails to establish katrinas charactor also. i expect like roll of ravina tandan in satta. this is khichdi of mahabharat, any gangwar film like SATYA( MANOJ behave like BHIKU MAHTRE in rajniti also),& slightly romantic film(not establish in film) overall one time watch movie.q ki no other option till RAVAN
