I Hate Luv Storys Movie Review by Movie Critics
Nikhat Kazmi (The Times of India) 3/5
Thematically, I Hate Luv Storys, is extremely simplistic, uni-layered and terribly predictable. Candy floss floats. Popcorn rules. Go, chew on it.
Taran Adarsh (BollywoodHungama.com) 3.5/5
I HATE LUV STORYS is a young and vibrant love story with tremendous appeal for the yuppies. The fresh pairing and the on-screen electrifying chemistry, the lilting musical score and the magical moments in the film should attract its target audience – the youth – in hordes. If you’re young or young at heart, this one’s for you!
Roshni Mulchandani (BollySpice.com) 2.5/5
I Hate Luv Storys is definitely catered for the younger crowds who will aw and gush over the cuteness it harbors. And it has buckets full of it! As a complete package, I Hate Luv Storys is nothing short of a cheesy chick flick which manages to entertain.Hate it or love it, sorry luv it, I Hate Luv Storys is simply put, paisa vasool.
Susan Jose (India-Forums.com) 3.5/5
This film so totally symbolifies love. ‘Cause there’s no logic in the film either! Ha ha. But just like love, if this film clicks with you, you’ll end up with a warm, fuzzy feeling … you will smile, laugh and glow with glee!
Pankaj (Glamsham.com) 2.5/5
The most novel part of I HATE LUV STORYS is its interesting title and cast. But that’s just about it. It attempts to be differently similar to the various cliched romantic films, but it is pretty much like one, to the point where it actually makes fun of itself. I HATE LUV STORYS wouldn’t make you fall in love with it.
Komal Nahata (KoiMoi.com) 3.5/5
On the whole, I Hate Luv Storys is a good, entertaining fare for the city youth and the multiplex audience.
Sukanya Verma (Rediff) 3/5
It’s Imran and Sonam’s collective persona and their free-flowing chemistry that makes all the difference
Kaveree Bamzai (India Today) 2.5/5
It’s not just the writing, which can be as pallid as the production design is vibrant
K.K. Rai (Stardust India) 3/5
Imran Khan-Sonam Kapoor fresh and rocking chemistry in the film should be the main attraction for Gen X to come to watch the flick into theatres. Vishal-Shekhar’s musical scores are equally compelling for the viewers to give the film a warm welcome, despite of its wafer thin storyline. A good fare.
Rahul Nanda (Filmfare) 2/5
The film never equals the sum of all its part, but it’s impossible to deny the energy with which it keeps the plot ticking on.
Nishtha Bhatnagar (NewsX) 1.5/5
What we are subjected to is some good music, some eye candy and a very poorly crafted film that keeps killing us with scenes and songs from all of Karan Johar’s old films
Gaurav Malani (IndiaTimes.com) 2/5
If you hate love stories this one’s certainly not for you. Which means this ends up being another love story!
Sonia Chopra (Sify) 3/5
For the cheeky comedy that often laughs at itself and largely for Imran Khan, this is a likely weekend treat, served sizzling hot.
Shubhra Gupta (Indian Express) 2/5
In sum, ` I Hate Luv Storys’ is pleasant but flaccid fare.
Khalid Mohamed (PassionForCinema.com) 3/5
Debut-making Punit Malhotra’s I Hate Luv Storys oozes a fair amount of charm. For the viewer, exasperated by the ragbag of movies in recent months, here’s a designer bottle of balm. Truly, the isq-vishq business out here is all so innocent and feckless that you actually feel quite cool and calm. Take a bow, Mr Punit.
Johnson Thomas (DNA India) 3/5
Inspite of the lack of a credible story and the predictable ending, this film is worth a watch mainly because of the appropriate candy coloured cinematography, reams of sparkling wit, great comedic timing and humorously edged performances provide for some consistent pop-corn styled entertainment!
Arpana (NowRunning.com) 3/5
“I Hate Luv Storys” proves that one can make good film without lavish sets, foreign locales and mega budgets. In short, a commendable effort by the first time director. You may not be a great fan of candy floss cinema, but do watch “I Hate Luv Storys”… it’s refreshing.
Minty Tejpal (Mumbai Mirror) 2/5
In the end I Hate Luv Storys is well packaged and bright, but quite puerile and bland, so take your pick.
Pooja Rao (Mumbaikar.com) 3/5
I Hate Luv Storys makes for a decent everyday flick, because of its soulful music, refreshing duo of Imran-Sonam and the overall Dharma King of Romance Karan Johar’s proverbial ‘Midas’ touch.

“I Hate luv storys” has a very predictable and non creative script.. It doesnt explore the depth and complexities of a relationship and frankly i expected better…Its supposed to be a satire on the cliched bollywood love stories but ends up being one of them…. The on screen chemistry between Imraan and Sonam is cool.. If you are a boy and you love this movie, I am certain you will end up like the ‘Raj’ of the movie(a nonentity)… If you are a romantic young girl…Watch the movie…. The settings and screenplay is good and sometimes its rather ‘cute’…. If you hate love stories you will end up hating this movie…
